Beck's Pistols
Live.2025.berlin (10")
Many myths and scandals surround the legendary Beck's Pistols and their enduring legacy in German punk history from their extravagant concerts to the forced name change to "Pöbel & Gesocks" (Ruffians & Scoundrels) thanks to a German brewery. Frontman Willi Wucher, with his raw vocals and frenetic performances, became a cult icon. Their uninhibited punk style, devoid of any sensibilities or etiquette, and their snotty, antisocial behavior essentially created its own subgenre: "Oi! Punk (Pervers)." From then on, everyone knew what "punk from the Ruhr area" was supposed to sound like. "Pöbel & Gesocks Oi!oi!oi!" became their battle cry, and "Ficken, Saufen, nicht zur Arbeit gehen" (Fuck, drink, don't go to work) likely drove many a parent to a white-hot rage. After decades, the Beck's Pistols have finally returned to Berlin's legendary SO36 for a live concert, performing their entire discography. The result of this memorable evening was recorded live and expertly mixed and mastered by OKI (Heartbreak Engines). Compared to their original studio recordings, the Beck's Pistols' songs have arguably never sounded better.
