In the library of the Monastery of Montecassino is preserved a large amount of precious manuscripts and musical ancient prints, among these the collection of 6 cantatas with violins by Giovanni Bononcini that mezzosoprano Emma Alessi Innocenti presents in this debut album accompanied by the ensemble L'Armonia della Cetre. Refinement and expressiveness are the two nouns that come to mind listening to these compositions in the precious interpretation of the Innocenti, extremely fine music for entertainment at its highest level in the early eighteenth century is now reproposed more than 300 years later in first world recording.
