Chavela Vargas

Isabel (Chavela) Vargas Lizano (San Joaqun de Flores, 17 April 1919 - Cuernavaca, 5 August 2012) was a Costa Rican-Mexican singer. She is best known for her renditions of Ranchera songs (a type of folk music popular in Mexico), but also for her interpretations of other popular music genres. This is her second album, it originally was released in 1961. Vargas was accompanied on the recording by the Cuarteto Lara Foster. The album included "La Llorona" which became one of Vargas' best known songs.
