This 3LP set brings together a series of long tracks by Germany's Space Debris, one of which has not been released before, some were released on vinyl in Germany but are long out of print, plus three extended tracks that have never before appeared on vinyl. The compilation offers a cross-section of the different creative phases of the band and documents their unique ability to craft extended instrumental pieces full of tension, dynamics, and musical depth. Originally formed in 1994, what sets Space Debris apart from some other rock bands is their ability to create complex, multi-layered music out of free improvisation. While free jamming in rock can end up in repetition or one-dimensional grooves, Space Debris generate real structure and development through their interaction and musical intuition; their approach is perhaps more reminiscent of jazz improvisation a start-point might be Miles Davis' Bitches Brew but with strong underlying elements of Krautrock and psychedelic rock This is not just a random collection of long tracks; it's a piece of the band's history, compiled by the band themselves to show how Space Debris has developed its own musical language over the years trying to move beyond genre boundaries, with a clear focus on improvisation. Space Debris is very much recognized as part of the German Krautrock movement a scene that has stood for experimental, genre-crossing music since the seventies.
