Sickwood
May The Surface Be Condemned
Sickwood conjure a sound they call Necromantic Stoner-Doom: thick, sludgy, and crushingly heavy, carried by walls of Orange amps and dense, persistent fuzz. Over this low-end, shadow-drenched instrumental landscape, a female voice moves effortlessly between hauntingly clean melodies and feral growls. Lyrically, the band draws listeners into a world suspended between the psychedelic and the monstrous a dark, metaphor-laden critique of the modern world system, inhabited by chthonic deities and enchanted woods. Born from a fateful meeting between Maurizio and Mara in December 2024, the lineup was completed when Valerio joined on drums in September 2025. After a series of live shows in their hometown of Rome, the trio entered the studio: "May the surface be condemned" was mixed and mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio. With their debut, Sickwood establish themselves as one of the most promising new voices in the Italian doom scene heavy, eerie, and uncompromising. FFO: Windhand, Daevar, Acid King, Horseback
