Giovanni Morandi: Complete Organ Works Vol. 9
The ninth volume of Giovanni Morandis complete organ works sheds light on the composers late season, when writing for the organi moderni attains a mature equilibrium between liturgical function, formal clarity and editorial awareness. The Undicesima and Dodicesima raccolta gathered here reveal music built from recognisable modules, sober nobility and finely judged timbral intelligence, conceived for the rite yet never deprived of artistic dignity. The project acquires further interest through its dialogue with the 1802 Zavarise organ and through the inclusion, as a bonus track, of the singular Pastorale del mantice. The surviving page discovered inside the instruments bellows is a small epiphany of the material memory of tradition.
