Neuwirth, Roland & Florian Krumpck
Winterreise
Schuberts music springs from silence. It is this silence that we often need to find ourselves and one another. But what if silence is no longer possible? Modern loneliness as a result of constant self-presentation? Roland Neuwirth returns to the stage following his departure in 2016. For his new project, Winterreise with Florian Krumpock on piano, he reinterprets Franz Schuberts Winterreise and brings the song cycle into the present day in his Viennese dialect. The two musicians take us back to the origins of the art song. As the song cycle unfolds, the listener increasingly becomes a companion to the wanderer, who, of his own volition, sets out into the winter night without a destination or hope.
