Mattar, Pedrinho -trio-
Bossa-nova Bossa-nova Bossa-nova (clear)
Pedrinho Mattar was an important Brazilian pianist who specialised in that miraculous fusion of Bossa Nova and Jazz that, from the early 1960s, literally took the scene between Brazil and the United States, with strong echoes in Europe as well. Released in 1964, this is the first album by the Pedrinho Mattar trio. The line-up is completed by Ayres De Arruda on guitar and Antonio Pinheiro on drums, the perfect instrumental combination to give display of Pedrinho's piano skills. The album is full of impeccable instrumental versions of songs by various composers, including Sergio Mendes, Baden Powell, Chico Buarque, A.C. Jobim, Aloysio De Oliveira and others. This is Latin Jazz at its Best!
