F. X.pokorny: Clarinet Concertos And Chamber Music Witt
This CD presents a selection of works by Frantisk Xaver Pokornyfeaturing the clarinet, including two solo concertos and various chamber compositions. Recorded on original 18th-century instruments, this project aims to recreate the authentic sound of the period. Most of the pieces are world premiere recordings, highlighting Pokornys contribution to the clarinet repertoire. The two solo clarinet concertos, dating back to 1760, rank among the earliest ever written for the instrument. Additionally, the Concertante for two A clarinets stands as one of the first works composed for clarinet soloists with orchestra. The program also includes six minuets and a trio for two clarinets and cello, performed with a historically informed approach. The Divertimento for two clarinets and three horns showcases a unique and intriguing instrumental combination. The accompaniment with fortepiano and cello enhances the lightness and transparency of the sound. This recording represents a significant rediscovery of 18th-century clarinet music.
