Flashback Five, The
Not Exactly A Poem
Originally released in 1996 as the first album issued by Guerssen Records, "Not Exactly A Poem" by Barcelona's The Flashback Five is an eclectic snapshot of Spain's underground garage and psychedelic scene of the early '90s. Formed around a shared obsession with '60s garage, R&B, Nederbeat and psychedelia, The Flashback Five developed their own blend of primitive garage punk, folk-rock and psychedelic sounds. Their live repertoire could jump from Q65 and The Shadows Of Knight to Soft Machine and The Morning Dew, reflecting a musical curiosity that went far beyond the boundaries of the so-called garage revival. Recorded in July 1995 in a small Barcelona basement studio, the album captured the band at a crucial moment, just before their six-year journey came to an end. For this reissue, original bass player Quim García has remastered the original recordings, bringing back bass detail, improving the drums and giving the album a more enjoyable listening experience while preserving its unmistakable character as a document of its time. Now, 30 years after its original release, "Not Exactly A Poem" returns on vinyl in a strictly limited edition of 400 copies not only a piece of Barcelona's underground musical history but the very first release to see the light of day on Guerssen Records and the last of our special 30th Anniversary editions.
