Rino Trasi: Works For Guitar (1988 - 2001)
This album features works by Rino Trasi (b. 1960), whose landmark style manages to remain idiomatic for the guitar whilst displaying notable compositional ambition, in a perspective which does not shy away from models such as those of Brouwer, Bogdanovic, and Bartk. A graduate of Mauro Stortis distinguished guitar class at the G. Nicolini Conservatoire in Piacenza(1985), Trasi subsequently pursued composition at the G. Verdi Conservatoire in Milan and at the Civica Scuola di Musicas Department of Contemporary Music. Although a guitarist by formation, he eschews the facile idiomatic devices frequently encountered in the repertoire-most notably the practice of transposing a stock gesture along the fretboard to generate ostensibly new material. In this album, the listener will enjoy a wide-ranging panorama on Trasis output, including pieces for unaccompanied guitar and for guitar duet.
