Drawn from manuscript sources and including several first recordings, these sonatas reveal the extraordinary variety of a composer who, after Scarlatti, occupies an eminent place in the Italian eighteenth century for keyboard. Between homage to the Prlude non mesur, theatrical cantability, galant finesse and unexpected affinities with Haydn and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, the disc illuminates a richly articulated workshop in which harpsichord writing becomes a European crossroads of forms, timbres and imagination.
