The record features fifteen solo pieces for soprano saxophone that venture to the outer edges of the instruments range, resonance and expressive vocabulary. Entirely improvised and each track recorded in a single continuous process, Threads captures music in its most immediate state. Each piece unfolds in the moment - without second takes, editing or overdubs - preserving the fragile balance between intention and accident that lies at the heart of Cains practice. With one exception, the tracks appear in the exact order they were recorded, documenting a spontaneous journey through evolving sonic ideas.
