Reedin' The Airn
The album Reedin' the Air elevates the clarinet-accordion duo of Emanuele Salvatore Anzalone and Mario Romeo to a liminal space where contemporary composition, cultivated memory and popular strata intersect within an unbroken dramaturgy. Works by Tomarchio, Cipollina, Adamo, Mantione, Romeo, Hermosa and Flecijn, many conceived for Duo RomAnce, turn the interplay between reed and bellows into a theatre of images: the cabaret aura of the Moulin Rouge, Sicilian fairy-tale myth, Hildegard-inspired visions and a distorted tarantella, the commemorative shadow of Gernika and the monodrama Hilda. The programme thus emerges as a tightly woven cycle that probes, in strikingly innovative fashion, the timbral, spatial and narrative potential of this chamber constellation.
