Federico Moreno Torroba was a Spanish composer whose long career spanned the 20th century. This album traces his guitar music from early works of the 1920s to the suites of the 1970s, such as the two volumes of Castillos de Espaa (Castles of Spain). Torrobas guitar style, championed by Andrs Segovia, blends folkloric Spanish melodies and dance rhythms with classical elegance, creating evocative musical landscapes - from the sprightly Fandanguillo to poignant nocturnes - that have become staples of the guitar repertoire. Guitarist Eulogio Albalat pays tribute to the great maestro with this dedicated monographic recording.
