After 8 years defining the sound of Northwest Indie Hip Hop, Sapient has crafted Slump, a genre-defying masterwork written, arranged and performed by the rising producer/emcee. Sapient takes his well-known sound in a fresh direction: arpeggiated beats contrast with melodic guitar and piano pop choruses, creating a lush texture for his singing voice to shine. The ethereal, lyrical sounds echo Sapient's childhood, reflected through the lens of his experience as a working artist and new father of a young family. Slump is an honest account, at times both hilarious and somber.
