Orange Rooftops
The Orange Album
Named as an homage to their past and the classic Liv'in End track, the band spent four years in a basement meticulously mining the gold of the 1960s while crafting their own moody, minor-key originals. Their sound caught the ear of the ultimate garage-rock taskmaster, Jeff Conolly. In a moment of manifesting destiny, the group was handpicked to become "The Orange Lyres," backing Conolly for a legendary performance at the Firecracker 500 Festival in 2013. This record captures the raw, unreleased energy of those sessionsa time when the band was opening for icons like The Oblivians, Paul Collins Beat, and GONN. From Iowa City to St. Louis, Orange Rooftops lived the garage dream, culminating in T.J. and Jeff Gregory touring as part of the Lyres family tree. After thirty years of silence, these tracks are finally out of the vault and on the turntable, where they belong. This is the authentic sound of four guys who lived for the fuzz and realized their greatest ambitions one power chord at a time. This album was recorded in 2012 by drummer Jeff Gregory in the band's rehearsal space (the "Batcave"), located deep in the bowels of the industrial warehouse district of Peoria. Consisting of original songs written by the band, as well as their own re-imagined versions of songs by the Dovers, Keggs, Rhythms, Savages, Groupies, Hysterics, and the Blonde Bomber.
