Lacy, Steve
Axieme
Lacy, alone on stage, grappling with the possibilities of silence: the echoes, the excesses, the ways in which the emptiness and fullness of his jazz shift and find harmony in a spiritual realm. Six tracks performed under the banner of his sixth sense for the blues and his 'inner' sense of time: elements that make Axieme a gem for hearts open to the wild beauty of creativity in its purest form. The six tracks of Axieme lies all the playful curiosity and gentle nature of this sounddisruptor, here directly confronted with the possibilities for interaction suggested by the emptiness of a hall; and there he is, then, moving away from and towards the microphone, pushing his breath almost to the point of distorting the brass, and, immediately afterwards, almost exiting the stage, to feel just how much the 'endless spaces and superhuman silences' are a fundamental part of musical language.
