Heaven

All Love Is Blue

Matt Sumrow and Mikey Jones have toured as part of bands like Dean & Britta, Swervedriver, Ambulance LTD, The Comas, Snowden, and The Big Sleep, but stayed in the background of those fuzzy outfits. But now, with Liz Lohse, they finally take center stage as Heaven, delivering exactly the kind of fuzzy indie music you'd be looking for from them on All Love Is Blue. The fuzzy, sweet indie music of those bands, shoegaze-ish, may have had its short-lived heyday somewhere in the nineties (like most alternative music), but Heaven draw on its right kind of sounds, from the reaching opener "Never the Moment" to the fun fuzz of "Springtimes (And All My Summer Times Too)". They can shift darker ("All Love Is Blue") and brighter (the following "Falling Hearts"), and even go into the more acoustic ("Believable", closer "Peaceful Way For the Sun To Rise"). Heaven doesn't reinvent any sound, but does revive a really nice one that you'd forgotten that you'd missed. -QRO
