A powerful debut album from the surf-psych-groove instrumental trio Goblyns. "Hunki Bobo" holds its own against the likes of The Meters, W.I.T.C.H, Khruangbin, and Can. These are just some of the bands that the psych-rock newcomers Goblyns cite as influences on their sound. Founded in South Africa, the three band members now live in Berlin and Amsterdam. They also wrote the songs for their debut album in Europe. The eight tracks on "Hunki Bobo" were recorded in a five-day studio frenzy in the sweltering July of 2023 under the experienced direction of Andre Leo. Leo is best known for his work with Medicine Boy and Wombed, and together with the musicians, he has created something truly special. The album has a unique dynamic and is bursting with energy. Every song radiates a groove that's hard to resist. Whether it's dark krautrock hypnosis, groovy surf, or psychedelia, Goblyns captivate the listener throughout the entire album.
