Fanning, A.s.
Take Me Back To Nowhere
The Berlin-based Irish singer-songwriter blends introspective folk with elements of alternative rock, new wave, and psychedelic pop on "Take Me Back To Nowhere." The album was recorded with producer Robbie Moore at Idea Farm studio in Sweden, which Fanning himself helped to establish. He developed the tracks in close collaboration with his multinational band Bernardo Sousa (guitar), Dave Adams (organ, synthesizer, piano), Fred Sunesen (drums), and Felix Buchner (bass) with Marta Zapparoli contributing atmospheric sound textures to several songs. Deconstructing and rebuilding the songs in the studio resulted in a sparse, dense soundscape that focuses more on textures and moods than on traditional song structures. Thematically, the album explores themes of loss of reality, societal chaos, and the search for meaning inspired by authors such as Ursula K. Le Guin and J.G. Ballard. Between resignation and hope, between inner withdrawal and existential longing, "Take Me Back To Nowhere" becomes a poetic attempt to recognize the real in the unreal.
