The rare German New Wave cult album from 1982 with a re-release! Including fabulous versions of "Psychokiller" (Talking Heads) & "Mongoloid" (Devo) as well as the ERNST originals "C2H5OH" & "Autonome Einheit." "Ernst came about because of the Talking Heads. Ernst is not a typical Neue Deutsche Welle band. Ernst didn't come from punk. Ernst wasn't a mere novelty of the record industry either. Ernst gave a unique and charming answer to the question of what New Wave could sound like in Germany. - On Ernst's first, only, untitled, and now re-released album from 1982, there are several cover versions of Talking Heads songs - translated into German and sung by bassist Dorle Bausinger. The New Yorkers had inspired the Tübingen band to form a New Wave group. Their brilliant version of Devo's "Mongoloid" is every bit as good as the original. But the band wasn't just adept at appropriating cool music from America; they also wrote excellent songs of their own, such as "C2H5OH." (Alcohol)" or "Autonomous Unit." - So Ernst simply released their record themselves. "We sent a few copies to the radio and stocked the record stores in the immediate vicinity, but we didn't do much more than that." At the Tübingen record store Rimpo, sales were so high that Ernst, the album, was named Record of the Month several times. The bright blue and red covers filled an entire shop window for weeks. - Nevertheless, the band and their extraordinary album have remained an insider tip to this day. Ernst never received the recognition he deserved.
