Justine & Me
So, it took me a while to finish this record for Justine. I didn't want to finish it, but needed to. Justine (Covault) and I started tracking the record in 2021. We'd heard great things about Ed Riemer's barn and wanted to scope it out. We went in for one day and cut You're Still Standing There will Jeff Allison on drums, Ed Riemer on bass and Justine and me on guitars and vox. I then overdubbed the harmonica part, Ed mixed it and wallah, we had a complete tune! Even though Justine was running Red on Red Records at the time, we didn't know what to do with the song so we just sat on it. Forward to 2023 and tragically Justine passes in her sleep - me, her family, close friends and the Boston rock community are completely gutted. It's a sad, sad time. I want, need, to do a tribute to her - my girl - so I start writing/finishing tunes to celebrate her life. I piggyback on the tune we had completed at Ed's barn in 2021 and cut 8 more tracks there with Jim Buni (gtr), John Sheeran (bass), Paul Delmonico (drums), Tad Overbaugh (gtr) and David Lieb (keys) - making sure not to fuss over the details. I want a raw, emotional tribute. This is what we came up with at Edsbarn - Justine & Me.
