Chezidek
Hello Africa
Chezidek the Herbalist, the Rastafarian roots and culture singer from St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica. He emerged upon the scene in 2002 with his first album Harvest Time on VP Records, produced by Phillip Fattis Burrell of Exterminator Records. Chezideks unique voice and melodies combined with cultural, spiritual and political topics which quickly earned him a place in the hearts of Reggae fans in Jamaica and worldwide. Chezidek has performed before thousands of fans in Jamaica, the Caribbean, the United States and Europe on most of the major Reggae festivals. He has worked with popular producers such as Bobby Digital, Don Corleone, and Sly and Robbie as well as European based producer Jah Solid Rock, who released two albums with Chezidek, Judgement Time and more recently, The Order Of Melchezedik, both for Hearbeat Europe. Chezidek is one of a select few roots singers who sticks to conscious lyrics in his music and never veers into popular hype. As a youth, coming from the home of the Honorable Marcus Garvey, Robert Nesta Marley and Burning Spear, Chezidek was influenced by the ancient Rastafarian tradition and his African roots. He is a man of righteousness inspired by the Most High Jah Rastafar I. Hello Africa is his second collection of songs to be released in three months, following Timeless, a set he did with Ligerians, a French band. Hello Africa, which features several of Jamaica's top musicians including guitarist Mitchum "Khan" Chin and keyboardist Robbie Lyn, maybe the Jamaican roots singer's most militant work to date.
