1 - ACCUSED, THE - MURDER IN MONTANA - (LP)
PIG

"Some of those earlier shows we did were historically noteworthy," reminisces Tommy Niemeyer, guitarist and founder of the Accused. One of those noteworthy moments occurred in the summer of 1983. The Accused, along with the Rejectors and Montana's own Deranged Diction were booked to perform at The Forum in Missoula Montana. The dance floor had 'Dance 'til You Puke' etched into it. "The music on The Accused 'Murder in Missoula' LP is 34 minutes of 50-grit sandpaper across your face; it's rare, unearthed audio documentation with a raw, unedited, genuine appeal. Close your eyes, turn up the volume and be whisked-back in time as The Accused blast through more than a half-hour of gritty, pissed-off three-chord-punk songs; all while poking, instigating and shouting at the crowd of bewildered rednecks. The historic 1983 punk rock invasion of Montana was the brainchild of one Jeff Ament, who catapulted into mega-rock fame with his current band Pearl Jam.

2 - ANANAS - IDIOTICALLY - (7")
PIG

ShaNaNa' was a New York-based Doo-wop group from 1969. Their sound worked in the seventies, but fifty years later we can all agree that it's time to speed up the music and severely alter the vocals! Thus, PIG Records decided to move the 'S' at the beginning of ShaNaNa to the end, where 'S'es belong, and lose the 'H' at the same time. Ingenious!'ANANAS!' The latest hardcore-core punk band from Osaka, Japan have no Doo-wop in their music. Instead, Frontwoman Karina Friday provides a kick-ass full-throttle style of vocals that explodes from her lips. Her live performance is filled with aggression. Three men, who are the musical equivalent of a Samurais round out the band. Jun is picking a guitar. Awaji is humming on bass, and Kazu is beating the living s*** out of the drums. This we'll packaged seven-inch vinyl EP is not the only Ananas release on the market. In 2021, when the band signed to PIG Records they released a split EP with the Gods of Punk, Italy's own Raw Power. They have since gained a following not only in Japan, but also in Italy and the United States, and more recently are starting to get a groove on in Indonesia.Don't add a 'B' in front of their name to pretend its Bananas. Nope, bad idea. If you're going to attach a fruit to their name, remember these are the type of warriors who like pineapple on their pizza.creditsreleased April 20, 2022

3 - HANSEN, RANDY - RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED WAR PIG - (7")
PIG

The Earth's most famous Jimi Hendrix impersonator has returned to the medium of vinyl that he grew up with - Christmas green vinyl, in celebration of reindeer and war pigs. After all, five consecutive decades of writing Christmas jingles - along with composing seventeen minutes of the soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's Academy Award-winning movie Apocalypse Now - certainly attest to Randy Hansen's expertise. In 2015, Randy joined Devo in the making and recording of the band's cover, "R U Experienced". In the song's video (in which Timothy Leary's children also appear), Randy plays the master himself, Jimi Hendrix, with precision. Of course, acting is nothing new to Randy; he has appeared in Nicolas Cage films and acted alongside James Franco. Randy's guitar playing struck a chord with Herbie Hancock, who used Randy's skills, along with those of Wah Wah Watson and Carlos Santana, in recording Herbie's infamous album Monster. In courting Randy, it was important to PIG Records to capture his true essence. Visual art is one of his many talents, and we asked him to provide all of the artwork for "Rudolph the Red Nosed War Pig". We specifically requested that he work in black and white. Randy's performances are all about audience participation, and so is this single; the buyer is intended to be the colorist of the art. The seven-inch comes with crayons, so that fans can supply gRooVy colors for the front, back and interior art. Randy wanted each copy to be unique, and if the owners of each record participate, there will be no two copies alike. PIG Records is not just delivering you a listening experience. We are allowing you to imbibe the quintessence of the A1, Mr. Randy Hansen.

4 - KILLER SMILES, THE - RAISING THE STAKES - (CD)
PIG

East Bay Ray of Dead Kennedys fame has fired back up his side project The Killer Smiles with Raising The Stakes, propping his signature surf/punk guitar riffs up against twelve brand new songs. The album doesn't waste any time, locking in the EBR guitar tone on the title track and establishing a high energy level, "You're Such A Fake" haunts with familiar delay and reverb effects that carry over to the leads of "Area 51," featuring a nice driving beat from drummer Steve Wilson.Wilson and Ray are joined with Greg Reeves and Ron "Skip" Greer, all showcasing the current Dead Kennedys touring line-up, and you can tell by how solid and cohesive the release is. The long desert rock of "The Runner" is no exception, and the slow number builds fantastically for four minutes. "It's Broken" is a great moment on the record, and a shining vocal watermark for singer Skip."Lipstick Cherry Red" bleeds of influence from Butthole Surfers vocalist, and album producer Paul Leary, and "Safe and Sound" buries lead guitar parts with Clash level ska. "I'm A User" pays homage to the pop elements of a classic Rancid song, and is the catchiest song on the album. The Killer Smiles thoughtfully step in and out of different boxes throughout the record in a terrific way. "The Last Time You Failed" is a tremendous moment on the album, allowing Skip to establish a true writing identity that yanks him far away from just being "that guy from Wynona Riders that sings Jello's parts in Dead Kennedys."

5 - RAW POWER/ANANAS - SPLIT SINGLE (40TH ANN. REISSUE) - (7")
PIG

Side one features Raw Power from Italy. They came on like gangbusters when they first appeared in 1981. The band toured the USA quite often and while the hardcore denizens worshipped them because they were hardcore, straight up music fans could find a lot to appreciate with the band's tight musicianship, sharp songs and strong vocals. This release shows that Raw Power is not letting up. The playing is still furious yet focused and the vocals are still compelling. The lyrics rail against evil in all forms whether they be in human form or hiding under the guise of a big corporation. This is a legacy band with no intention of ruining their legacy.Side two features the Ananas who are a female band from Kyoto, Japan. All you fans of Johnny Sokko will know it is the city where Dr. Botanus transmogrified the brain of the head agent of the local branch of Unicorn but this band may overshadow that as far as putting Kyoto on the map. The band is full of surprises as they have some very interesting time changes and rhythms in their music. The vocals are soaring with some real craftiness in the writing and playing from the musicians. It is refreshing to hear females hitting it hard. There is no reason for them not to. Punk opened doors for females and their voices and this band is awesome and deserves to be heard. This split 7" release comes with a fold out cover and the inside contains fun liner notes concerning a chain of restaurants that offer a fusion of Italian and Japanese dishes much like this record dishes up two of the finest bands from both places. There is also a lyric sheet included. A quality release and a super fun 7" record.
