- LONG ISLAND NY 1971 - (LP) LIVE ON VINYL
Originally cast as a super group, Cactus were thebrainchild of Long Island boys Tim Bogert andCarmine Appice, two ferociously talented players whohad cut their musical teeth in psychedelic heaviesVanilla Fudge with Atlantic records in the late sixties.Addressing a small invited audience in Ultra SonicStudios in their native Long Island, the band plungedinto their past three albums delivering a blitzkrieg, pronouncing their affection for boogie with anelectrifying demeanour. This performance also signalled the closure of achapter in the Cactus story with McCarty and Dayleaving shortly after and before recording took placefor the fourth album Ot N Sweaty in 1972.Klondike has captured a unique facet of heavy bluesrockwith the WLIR-FM broadcast recorded at UltraSonic Studios in Long Island, January 1971. Exposinga robust powerhouse performance delivered from aprofoundly underrated band who given their lack ofreflective prose and melodic depth, held all thegoodies in the bag with the amps turned up high.

- ULTRA SONIC BOOGIE-LIVE 1971 - (LP) PURPLE PYRAMID
This is some awesome live Cactus! They played live for WLIR in front of a small audience at Ultra Sonic Studios in Long Island, the same studio where they recorded their first LP. I actually like this performance better than either of the Rhino Live Gigs CDs. The band is very tight and energized (it's the original McCarty/Bogert line-up, no Leejack on 2nd guitar like Live Gigs 2) and Rusty's singing/ harp playing sounds great. It's also cool to hear Rusty's between song banter. There's even an acoustic version of Token Chokin with Carmine playing rhythm guitar
