On their album, The Hoss, The Candle; White Doves delicate and haunting songs find a more celestial, hazy sound. Harkening back to the sounds of California in the 70s, the band confidently layers ethereal background harmonies with cosmic slide guitar. However, White Dove never stay in the sun for long. Night has fallen in the Canyon, with songwriter Alex Johnstone taking a classic LA sound somewhere dark and shadowy. After shedding their former name Monster, a monicker Alex Johnstone has carried since forming the band in 2002, White Dove now includes multi-instrumentalist Jack Long and bassist Carl Harders. In the past, White Dove drew comparisons to Mojave 3, Big Star, Galaxie 500, and Mazzy Star.

When we first started back in 1993, we were just hoping this band would last a while, maybe a couple of years or so, just to have some fun playing around. but it seems that it went on for a little longer!!! We would like to thank all of you in every country we played, all our friends and family, for your support and kindness during all these years. We had so many great times (and hangovers!) meeting nice people around and enjoying ourselves. Words would not express our feelings enough..so the best way for us to thank all of you is to keep on singing our heart out and play for you...for the next 20 years to come! Rock Along !!!

Call them old-fashioned. Woody & Paul are serious about the quality of their music and always hard working. In the last 4 years they've been building a stunning live repertoire while releasing 3 albums and 2 EP's, ranging from pre-war blues and fieldrecorded folk to full on rootsrock. They're music is hugely diverse, even psychedelic at times, but always starts from a good song, even electric or accoustic.
