For me personally, its a set which encompassesexceptional music by extraordinary musicians, namely trumpetplayer Joo Kraus and bassist Hellmut Hattler. The factthat its live simply sends chills up my spine for I dare say, it sounds too good to be live.

In the spring of 2013 the likeable artist releases Waterfall, truly a proper Todd Thibaud album. Besides his engaging vocals and a subtly melancholic yet powerful attitude, melodic songs with meaty riffs and hooky choruses are Todd Thibauds calling card. His songs are undeniably catchy and want to be listened to again and again even though they are far from lightweight or superficial. On Waterfall, Todd Thibaud once again succeeds masterfully in this balancing act between writing meaningful songs and songs with "hit potential" (for a better world).

Biotop is inhabited by insectoid squeaks, banging percussion and echoes of displaced nursery rhymes. The hectic piece Moderne Arroganz is notablefor a voice listing types of insurance; from behind this "unbeatable idiocy" (Guido Sprenger) a critical reflex emerges which can be taken as social commentary-it is no coincidence that Sauberland resounds with squeaky absurdity, taking itself none too seriously. One would not be wrong, therefore, to divine the artist finding himself in the banefully piercing title track, which rejects the alleged harmlessness of the album, a contrary "Im here too", attenuated only by the remark "lets see how things go". But Tietchens half hoping, half sceptical stance-underlined as an endless groove on the initial pressing-proved unfounded.

Tongue were a blues-based, organ-fueled, country and rural folk-influenced hard rock band that emerged from the copious student population of countercultural Wisconsin. Though Tongue remains a criminally underrated outfit, and never made it big on a national level, their touring reached legendary status, particularly in the mid-west. They were on the road for 10 years and played 250 gigs a year without flying to a single one of them. Originally issued in 1969, their debut LP was recorded near the beginning of their career, thereby capturing the band during the early peak of their powers. Featuring a great version of Tim Hardin's "Morning Dew", "Keep On Trucking" is a forgotten classic of late 60's American psychedelia.
