In 1978 Chiswick Records released this great EP. Paramecium records third release is the first release of the Billy Bragg's punk band Riff Raff, it was called called I Wanna Be A Cosmonaut. Riff Raff disbanded in 1981 after released five singles more but none as the first. This band wasn't a typical 77 punk band and in the four songs (Cosmonaut, Romford Girls, What's the Latest and Sweet as Pie) there is an awesome mixture of punk/pub rock/power pop sounds. The Rings, I wanna be free / Automobile. The Rings were an unusual band so they were a young band fronted by an older underground musician (Twink, real name John Alder, veteran of many psychedelic bands including Tomorrow and The Pink Fairies). I wanna be free is a minimalist punk anthem, in which the song title and not much else by way of lyrics is chanted over and over again above a killer riff. This single was released in May of 1977 and was repressed two times more, one of these with a different sleeve, this Delga Press Limited edition has been used in our release. Now you can get it 35 years after for a few euros. OFFICIAL REISSUE LICENSED FROM ACE RECORDS (500 copies).

Recorded live on 9 October, 1975, for the BBCs "Rock Hour" radio program, Todd Rundgrens Utopia-a prog-psych outfit formed in 1973 and featuring John Siegler (bass), Roger Powell (keyboards) and John "Willie" Wilcox (drums), with backing vocals provided by none other than future soul superstar Luther Vandross-played their brilliant first-ever UK concert at Londons Hammersmith Odeon to an ecstatic audience. The 55-minute set was a mix of tunes, including "Freedom Fighters", from the bands first LP, plus "The Wheel," Roger Powells "Mister Triscuits," a cover of The Moves "Do Ya," and "Heavy Metal Kids" from Rundgrens solo LP Todd, among others.
