Brenda Lee broke into the big time after persuading Red Foley to listen to her sing. He immediately invited her to sing on stage, and within two months she had a recording contract, as a 10 year old! Hit after hit followed. Lee achieved her biggest success on the pop charts in the late 1950s through the mid-1960s with rockabilly and rock and roll-styled songs. Her biggest hits included "Jambalaya", "Sweet Nothin's" (No. 4), "I Want to Be Wanted" (No. 1), "All Alone Am I" (No. 3) and "Fool No. 1" (No. 3). She had more hits with the more pop-based songs "That's All You Gotta Do" (No. 6), "Emotions" (No. 7), "You Can Depend on Me" (No. 6), "Dum Dum" (No. 4), 1962's "Break It to Me Gently" (No. 2), "Everybody Loves Me But You" (No. 6), and "As Usual" (No. 12). Lee's total of nine consecutive top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits from "That's All You Gotta Do" in 1960 through "All Alone Am I" in 1962 set a record for a female solo artist that was not equalled until 1986 (by Madonna).

Signposts: Camera Obscura, Teenage Fanclub, American Analog Set, CoastalLorna's husband and wife team of Mark and Sharon Rolfe showcase their patented vocal harmonies over more buoyant compositions this time around than on 2008's introspective Writing Down Things to Say, such as the Teenage Fanclub-esque "As She Goes By" and the American Analog Set-infused "Whatever Happened to Andie Walsh?" Steeped with woodwinds and strings and the occasional addictive electronics, Heart of Wire still takes time to breathe, and explores time and space with more serene compositions such as the Twin Peaks-inspired closer "Chasing Amy" and the 1950s orchestra-laden "Mina and Marco" which utilizes a passage from a 1934 piece by English composer Edward Elgar.

The second album of Love A contains eleven new and two older tracks (singles, that appear in new versions here), oscillating between raw German speaking punk and melodic indie rock with an influence of pop. Lyrics deal with politics, humour, cynicism and observations of daily life, somewhere between punk rock fury and being mellowed with age. The drums come straight and to the point, the non distorted guitar travels between staccato salvos and melodic excursions, the bass pushes und backs and the voice yells, sings and proclaims in German speech. With the help of Robert Whitely, Liverpool located producer (Wombats, Hot Club De Paris, Voo), recordings mirror perfectly the bands sound which is unique and catchy at the same time. Minimalism meets melody, think of a mixture of (post-)punk, indie pop/rock and NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle).
