"The Sixties hang out with the Seventies and celebrate till dawn with the Eighties" - in a nutshell this is what one might expect when ringing the "Bungalow 7" doorbell and finding oneself pushed right through to the dancefloor by the powerpop hit "Say Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!". Well, "We are here" and everybody's invited to dance! But there's more indeed. If you've ever listened to a "Spermbirds" or "Kick Joneses" record, you know that Frank can write great songs of various styles. And here he comes from yet another angle. On a kaleidoscopic trip from Sixties beat to Seventies power- /psychpop to indie-borrowings of the Eighties and back this disc offers all that a great debut record needs: excellent songs in diverse atmospheres and tempi. On the lyric's side Frank is wonderfully flanked by Katrin. She swiftly writes along his through-balls, rooting her texts as well in the punkrocking Eighties as in the folky protest songs of the Sixties, as well in the psychedelic rock lyrics of the Seventies as in the lightness of beat music songtexts of the Sixties. Which finally makes the lyrics just as fine as the music - and as the beautiful collage artwork by Horst Klein. But in spite of all retro borrowings the album recorded and mastered by Frank and Guido in the blubox studio sounds perfectly natural and effortlessly modern.
