Tribal guitar drone ambient with psychedelic and post-rock elements. There is a tribal element to Arc's 2 long suites that feel somewhat like being stoned in Cologne in 1971. The trio of Aidan Baker, Christopher Kukiel, and Richard Baker return to the quiet with hushed tribal timbres, however, these ambiences are riveting in a way that that other ambiences are not, probably because the group does not think with an ambient attitude. This is the sound of mining midnight. In a universe where experimentalism is often just a nice way of saying "boring," hearing seasoned musicians actually craft something interesting sans computers is like having an orgasm. There really is no compare, except for maybe sneezing, which is Merzbow's department. One time vinyl edition of 400 copies packaged in custom made book bound sleeves and 180 gram vinyl.

A fiery comet tail of piercing Kraut flavored psych trails behind. The whistles of cosmic winds commingle with acid fury as the Expo 70 command craft slowly leads the armada in for a truly great gig in the sky. Ambience morphs into a monstrous, heavy psychedelic blaze colour of Big Bang proportions. Eventually, the searing doom-crush folds in on itself until, once again, only the spheres patiently whisper from the deep. After which, a quantum of solace resonates with the frequency of the earth below us; drifting, falling; floating weightless; calling, calling home.

Edwards music for the movie flows with measured, stygian force; the groaning rises punctuated by that old black magic that only Ka-Spel can conjure with the smallest of sounds permeating every wave. Loops trill and sigh within virtuoso keyboard cameos. A myriad of miniature minuets thread backwards and beneath the main thematic pulses. Edwards dark ambience is non-ambivalent, however, which gives it a lifes breath beyond the realm of film music. The album certainly generates excitement as to what images might accompany such a skewed, sonic construction. But no movie is needed to find prophet from these starry sounds.
