BILLY CHILDISH has been releasing records, painting, writing poetry and generally doing his own thing for the past 32 years. Many of the tracks on this compilation have been unavailable for ages and some also have never appeared on CD as well as many unpublished photos on the cover and 12 page booklet. Lois Wilson (Mojo) has written the sleeve notes and there will also be a deluxe triple vinyl version as well as a double CD digipak deluxe package. Billy Childish first took to the stage back in October 1977 with seminal punk garage band THE POP RIVETS, they split after two years and from there he joined THE MILKSHAKES along with fellow Pop Riveter Bruce Brand and local lads Micky Hampshire & Russ Wilkins, after that came THEE MIGHTY CAESARS, THEE HEADCOATS, THE BUFF MEDWAYS and right up to date with his two current ensembles THE MUSICIANS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE and THE CHATHAM SINGERS. This 51 Track compilation is a look back at the more Rock N Roll aspects of his musical career which is why there's no spoken word or poetry on this album. In amongst these more well known bands are tracks he recorded solo and with other artistes like THE DELMONAS, THEE HEADCOATEES, SINGING LOINS, KYRA RUBELLA etc. Over the years Billy has been championed by lots of great bands and musicians including BECK, MUDHONEY and KURT COBAIN and more recently by Eddie Vedder from PEARL JAM and THE WHITE STRIPES. "In Blood" is a great album, pretty much ignored the first time around, it's subtitled 'ONE CHORD! ONE SONG! ONE SOUND! But it's so much more than that, tracks like 'Demolition Girl' & 'Step Out' roar out of your stereo, really great dirty one chord (with many notes) blues songs with vocal trading, clanging guitars and backed by the Medway Delta Review, which features, Bruce and Johnny of Thee Headcoats as well as Johnny Gibb of the Wildebeests. 'Come on in, put your cigarettes out and have a dance' kicks off this reissue of Holly Golightly's second live album which was originally released in 2004 on CD only on the Sympathy For The Record Industry label in the USA, now finally available on a double 12" LP vinyl for the first time. 'Down Gina's At 3' was recorded at the start of their US tour in 2004 and released by the end of it! This is pretty much the line-up which recorded Holly's classic 'Truly She Is None Other' album and features are Bruce Brand on Drums, Eric Stein on lead Guitar and Jack Lawrence on Bass. Ko And The Knockouts appear on the encore tracks. Apparently just after the tape had run out there was a final encore and Jack White got up and did a stunning version of Louie Louie with the band. never mind eh!
