Michael Hurley is a singularly unusual singer, guitarist and artist. Following the recent re-issues of Hurleys three albums for Rounder Records, the Future days label is now set to revisit some of Hurleys earliest solo works: 1971s Armchair Boogie and Hi Fi Snock Uptown! Recorded with Jesse Colin Young, Armchair Boogie is Hurleys debut album proper, and the one in which he set out his stall as purveyor of charming, homely, folksy songs. It is, essentially, 14 songs about love and strange things.

Michael Hurley is a singularly unusual singer, guitarist and artist. Following our recent re-issues of Hurleys three albums for Rounder Records, we are now set to revisit some of Hurleys earliest solo works: 1971s Armchair Boogie and Hi Fi Snock Uptown. Featuring 14 twisted songs produced by "Banana" and Joe Bauer, Hi Fi Snock Uptown saw Hurley amplifying some ofArmchair Boogies willfully esoteric qualities and delivering an album that explores the full range of his sound, from blues to country and folk to playful sounds - like his crow impressions on Old Black Crow. As Twilight Zone neatly puts it, "everything is weird". It also features some of his most loved songs such as Water Train, Eyes, Eyes and the gorgeous traveling track Blue Driver.

Reissue of electronic music pioneer Annette Peacock's solo debut LP ! The albums wide range of vocal emotions and diverse sonic palette (featuring Robert Moogs early modular synthesizers, which the singer actually transmitted her voice through to wild effect) places it firmly at the forefront of the pop avant-garde. Originally released by RCA Victor in 1972 to widespread critical acclaim, Im The One found itself amongst good company. Both Lou Reed and David Bowie had recently signed to the label-Bowie in particular was enamored with Annette-and artists ranging from ex-husband and jazz great Paul Bley, along with notable Brazilian percussionists Airto Moreira and Dom Um Romao, guested on the album itself. Writing and arranging Im The Ones nine passionate tracks-bar a unique cover of Elvis Presleys "Love Me Tender"- the disc grooves easily from free jazz freak-outs and rough and rugged blues-funk to gently pulsing synthesized bliss.
