The Hi-Fly Orchestra means all-acoustic jazz with a totallyinfectious and heavy dancegroove that always gets the crowd on the fl oor. The great sound of 60s jazz, latin and samba, returning to its grooviest roots!! THFO was founded in 2005 by Jerker Kluge and Florian Riedl. Though played by young musicians, who are influenced by all kinds of todays music, the intent was to create music that sounds as hip as the classic jazz records of the blue note era. Music to dance, without DJs,electronics or samples, just pure acoustic music! The heavy and rough rhythms are played by drums, double-bass, congas and piano, supporting the wonderful horn-lines by sax and trombone. The high musicality of the 6 members of THFO and the original sound of their instruments assure the most authentic perfomance with absolute high-energy playing!

Algerian-native, Karima Nayt, is a more traditionally-inclinedKabyle singer than her fellow countrywoman, Iness Mezel. The folkish, fl uid melodies are interrupted by nomadic guitarsand upbeat percussion spanning North Africas camel routes,Frances guitar music, and the vocal melisma of Ofra Haza.Karimas mature voice fl oats effortlessly across the trackswith a bit of reservation to allow the instruments some roomto expand on the vocal patterns. The sincerity in Karimasvoice resembles the same clarity as Souad Massi with thesensuality of Frances Carla Bruni. At any rate, Karimas songs are heartfelt, classic, and timeless. The thirteen tracks span Karimas eclectic and linguistic ethnic background. Some of the songs are reminiscent of Spanish, South American, or Portuguese-type music with a strong, classical-almost fadoesque -presence. Nevertheless, the music is not a fusion project, but a wonderful journey through the Folk music traditions of Algerias infamous Mediterranean coastline.
