Amplifying the pared down "smooth punk" of their 2009 debut LP Artificial Clouds, BARE WIRES nods to the bubblegum chomping, power pop stompers of 70s glam rock with their sophomore album Seeking Love. What started as the side project of MATTHEW MELTON and ALICJA TROUT in Memphis has now solidified as a three-piece based out of Oakland, CA with Melton, drummer NATHAN PRICE and bassist FLETCHER JOHNSON. BLASTED CANYONS is HEATHER FEDEWA, ADAM FINKEN and MATT JONES. Heather and Matt initially started the band to play an art opening at MoMa which ended with everyone getting kicked out. Matt met Adam handing out mushrooms on the 4th of July and together they convinced a crew of similarly fucked up strangers to light fireworks off the roof. Together, they round robin instruments and crush huge riffs, singalongs, caveman drums, and gooey synthesisers into thrashy wizard rock for weirdos that dig dorky shit but aren't total dorks about it. Their self titled debut was recorded with MATT HARTMAN (of HENRY DRESS and SIC ALPS fame) and ERIC BAUER (who has helmed the boards for Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, and countless other San Francisco ne'er do wells) and carries the ramshackle blessing of being released on JOHN DWYER and BRIAN LEE HUGHES Castle Face Records, with original art by Castle Face resident art-slayer WILLIAM KEIHN

THE FRESH & ONLYS began in the Spring of 2008 as a recording collaboration between TIM COHEN and SHAYDE SARTIN. After a month of marathon recording sessions on various broken tape machines the two enlisted WYMOND MILES, HEIDI ALEXANDER and GRACE COOPER to help complete the sound. Since then the band has recorded well over a hundred songs and played a hand full of shows on the west coast. Fresh from the nostalgically amazing San Francisco punk band, THE TRADITIONAL FOOLS, frontman TY SEAGALLs self-titled album broadens the horizon of punk, paying deserved homage to the roots of rock and roll, while rejuvenating the music for today. Native to Southern California, Ty Segalls solo project began as an attempt to keep his live performances in tune with his recordings. Freed of the constraints that multiple members bring to a band, Ty Segall is truly a one-man band: he plays a bass drum with a tambourine duct-taped to the front and a hi hat with his feet, guitar with his hands, and sings simultaneously.
