True Love and Water is the debut album of singer-songwriter Erica Buettner, a commanding new presence on the avant-folk scene. This 27-year-old American has spent the last several years in Europe, where she composed and recorded True Love and Water with producer Pierre Faa (Peppermoon Music) in a home studio in Montmartre, Paris, France. Her deepest influences are to be found in the tradition of American folk musicians and singer songwriters such as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Recently, Erica relocated from Paris, France to Portugal, where, after playing a few initial shows and falling in love with the country, she decided to move. In an interview, she commented this decision with a Goethe citation from his "Italian Journey": (...) I am a voluntary exile, a wanderer by design, unwise with a purpose, everywhere a stranger and everywhere at home, letting my life run its course where it will, rather than trying to guide it, since, in any case, I dont know where it will lead me. Erica Buettner is also part of The Resident Cards, a joint project with Dana Boule and collaborating musician Boris Gronemberger.
