1 - GORME, EYDIE
- I'LL TAKE ROMANCE - (CD) HALLMARK
Both as a solo singer and as part of a duo with her husband Steve Lawrence (the pair married in 1957) Eydie Gorme has helped make traditional pop music popular around the world. Both Eydie and Steve continue to tour today, further adding to their reputation. They are, quite rightly, still considered insitutions within the American music market, even though neither has featured on the charts since 1963! Whilst much of Edyies chart success since 1963 has been on the Adult Contemporary charts, there have been the occasional forays onto the Latin chart. It is this ability to tackle such diverse material that has enabled her to remain at the top of the muscial tree for the best part of five decades, as this album will undoubtedly confirm.
