Although largely overlooked now, there was a time when Eddie Fisher was one of the most successful and popular singers in the world, racking up eight UK Top 10 hits, including two chart toppers. This single success enabled him to shift millions of albums and host his own television show, although his star was dimmed by the scandal surrounding his public divorce from Debbie Reynolds and subsequent marriage to Elizabeth Taylor. The musical revue At The Drop Of A Hat opened at the New Lindsey Theatre on New Years Eve, 1956. The show proved an instant success and was subsequently transferred to the Fortune Theatre in the West End a little over three weeks later. The show would go on to run for 808 performances before switching to New York and the Golden Theater, where it managed a further 215 performances. Eventually, the show would be performed some 1,700 times between the launch in 1956 and 1967. The album, which features many of the highlights of the show, hit the Top Ten on the UK album charts.

Originally formed as The Four Lovers, they became the 4 Seasons in 1960, built around Frankie Valli on leadvocals, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals and NickMassi on bass guitar and bass vocals.Unlike many other groups of the time, they wrote much of their own material, including the two major hits to befound on this album, Big Girls Dont Cry and the number one smash Sherry (which was originally written as atribute to the then First Lady Jackie Kennedy and was originally titled Jackie Baby).Whilst many albums of the time invariably contained one or two hit singles and were padded out with fodder forthe rest of the tracks (which might well have influenced the title of this album), Sherry & 11 Others is somethingof a difference, since it allows the groups signature sound room to shine. It worked too, for the album wouldbecome a Top Ten success in the US, peaking at #6 on the Billboard chart.

However, since Never On Sunday was one of the surprise film hits of the year, it made sense to tag the album to it. It proved to be an impressive album, hitting #11 on the charts and provided proof that Connie could switch her musical style with ease.
