Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are the consummate punk rock supergroup. If underground music had an all-star game, these guys would lead the league in voting every season. Beginning with vocal duties, we have Spike. Spike got his break in the Fat Wreck Chords warehouse, where he was notorious for his violent outbursts and singing along to Prince records. His sweet voice and charisma could not be overlooked.the rest is history. Spike also plays bass in the famed San Francisco streetpunk band the Swingin Utters. On the tubs-that means the drums-we have Dave, formerly of Santa Barbara greats, Rich Kids on L.S.D., and the current drummer for skate-punk torchbearers, Lagwagon. On guitar we have Jackson. Yeah, yeah, Jacksons in the Foo Fighters. On bass theres Fat Mike, and if ever there was a punk tycoon, it would have to be he. As frontman of NOFX and president of Fat Wreck Chords, this man is a veritable crimelord. Hes not Sicilian, hes Jewish. And finally, we have Joey on guitar. As the singer/songwriter genius behind Lagwagon, this Santa Barbaran is a living legend and leader of the punk rock new school. In order to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Have a Ball, the GIMMES are releasing the second installment of recordings from the original session. Wait, say what?!? Yes, the wildly popular Have a Ball was initially recorded as a double album, but the band decided that the two disc extravaganza might be too much rock for the uninitiated masses. Subsequently there is another albums worth of material just waiting to be devoured by Gimmes fans, old and new. Have Another Ball is chock-full of 70s classics from the likes of John Denver, Hall and Oates, Neil Diamond, and Elton John, with that distinctive GIMME GIMMES twist.

In keeping with the theme of their last release, ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES decided to tackle the proud musical tradition of another country, rather than a specific genre. This time they set their sights on the land of the rising sun, Japan. What a pairing! Japan is the birthplace of Karaoke for petes sake! And the GIMMES are the most renowned cover band around (if not for their actual musical chops, at least for their side endeavors [NOFX, Lagwagon, Swingin Utters, Foo Fighters]). It is truly a match made in heaven, well, except for the minor detail of not knowing how to speak Japanese. The GIMMES didnt let a little thing like foreign language slow them down, though. Spikes sweet crooning is universally pleasing, as he proves by deftly belting out the 6 tracks on Sing In Japanese (clever, eh?) in the dialect in which they were originally written. While the band may have ditched the Hawaiian shirts for matching kimonos this time around, their musical interpretations remain the same. The boys play their fun-loving, punk rock style to these Japanese classics, resulting in 6 up-tempo sing-alongs peppered with guitar riffs hotter than wasabi.

MORNING GLORY first became the spark of an idea back in 2001 when Ezra Kire (Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, INDK) took time off from touring and started to write and record some songs in his NYC apartment. Built on the backbone of ska, punk, crust, metal, much like his other work, the songs Ezra wrote for MORNING GLORY served as an outlet for the expanded spectrum of his songwriting. Their debut Fat Wreck release, as well as their first studio full-length, Poets Were My Heroes. This epic album is a sonic kaleidoscope of punk noise melding strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs over a web of distorted guitars and marching, single kick pedal drums. It is both grand and elaborate, with each song evoking a different mood and style, challenging the musicianship of even the most dexterous players, while still maintaining its punk-inspired simplicity and catchy anthemic sound throughout. Beyond the music itself, the message of the songs on Poets Were My Heroes differential themselves from the standard politi-kill crust punk acts, embracing a more positive outlook of unity in diversity. With the release of Poets, MORNING GLORY are finally poised to deliver on nearly a decade of anticipation and assume their rightful position as one of the most lauded and intriguing bands inside and out of the ska/punk genre.

MORNING GLORY first became the spark of an idea back in 2001 when Ezra Kire (Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, INDK) took time off from touring and started to write and record some songs in his NYC apartment. Built on the backbone of ska, punk, crust, metal, much like his other work, the songs Ezra wrote for MORNING GLORY served as an outlet for the expanded spectrum of his songwriting. Their debut Fat Wreck release, as well as their first studio full-length, Poets Were My Heroes. This epic album is a sonic kaleidoscope of punk noise melding strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs over a web of distorted guitars and marching, single kick pedal drums. It is both grand and elaborate, with each song evoking a different mood and style, challenging the musicianship of even the most dexterous players, while still maintaining its punk-inspired simplicity and catchy anthemic sound throughout. Beyond the music itself, the message of the songs on Poets Were My Heroes differential themselves from the standard politi-kill crust punk acts, embracing a more positive outlook of unity in diversity. With the release of Poets, MORNING GLORY are finally poised to deliver on nearly a decade of anticipation and assume their rightful position as one of the most lauded and intriguing bands inside and out of the ska/punk genre.
